Club members joined up with pioneer members of Leeds Rotaract Club, based at Devonshire Hall, to plant seven trees at West Park Fields. In the pouring rain, we were led by Rachel Todner a skilled ranger from Leeds City Council. A few weeks later, in better weather, we met again to place the protective poles and chicken wire around the saplings.
This row of rowan and birch trees will enhance the top of the field on the path from North Parade to Parkview Place. The project was led by former joint Presidents Keith Crowther and Peter Woodhead. and their firm belief that Rotary must invest in the future has fine proof in this well-established line of trees. Our thanks go to all the volunteers who gave of their time and effort to complete the task, especially John Hafseth, Adrian Simmons, Colette Crossen, Chris and new member, Marion Walbank. Job well done!
